Program Description

Virtual reality (VR) can help your client visualize and "feel" what the design of their project will be like and engages stakeholders in the design process to improve plans prior to breaking ground. Public engagement can also be improved by offering VR to demonstrate how the project will affect the current site in renovation and remodel projects or to walk through new construction. This tool provides an efficient way to share immersive content with clients no matter where they are located.

The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are additional VR tools used to demonstrate projects. The Oculus Rift is a VR tool that takes 3D imagery to the next level. Oculus' display technology combined with its precise, low-latency constellation tracking system enables the sensation of presence.

In addition to Oculus, the HTC Vive provides clients with a fully immersive VR experience. The Vive uses an adjustable headset offering a 110? field of view and two handheld wireless controllers. The Vive allows clients the ability to freely move throughout the design model, move objects or design features and gain new viewpoints.

Another device in the VR tool box is the Microsoft Hololens. The Hololens merges the physical environment and virtual design to create a virtual experience that allows the user to view their physical environment at the same time.
